  About

I am a painter and ceramic artist who creates intimate works designed to be used and lived with for everyday people who desire beauty, meaning, and quality in their daily lives.  Nothing makes me happier than when someone tells me one of my paintings speaks to them, stirring up memories and emotions; or that coffee really does taste better out of one of my mugs.

My art is made to fit in your home, enrich your days, and deepen your inner life, by bringing grand ideas, deep emotions, and individual beauty into your life.  I make it for people, living in a work-a-day world, dreaming big and working hard; it is my way of encouraging you to dream bigger, feel deeper, grow towards the sun.  I believe the world is only as ugly as we let it be.

My work is purposefully made to be useful.  This is apparent in my ceramic work: all are functional dishes of some sort.  With my paintings it is not necessarily as apparent how they can be used, but I am dedicated to creating works that can fit in the average home or office, to bring beauty, and deep emotion and thought into everyday spaces and lives.  Everything I make is made to be lived with.  I want each use of a teapot, mug, plate or bowl to have its own mini-revelations, even if that revelation is just a moment of beauty or pleasure in an otherwise ordinary day.  I have been drawing and communicating visually for as long as I can remember.  It is my deepest, and easiest form of communication.  I paint my paintings to be pleasing to the eye, but also to nourish the soul; they are made to express moments, emotions, and thoughts so deep, profound and sometimes simple that words fail to express their magnitude:  only an image can start to communicate it.  All my art is designed to be an ongoing conversation that deepens and beautifies our lives.

My deeply held beliefs are the origin of my work.  I believe that all of creation speaks to who God is, and I have no greater goal that that my creations do the same. I believe that a life lived intentionally brings its own reward, and that hard work and planning pay off in the end.  I believe you have the right to your opinion and I have a right to mine, and as long as neither of us demands that the other agree with us we can live in peace.   I believe that beauty isn’t just something a person sees; it can be smelled, tasted, heard, felt and lived. In fact, I believe that if we live with true beauty we ourselves become more beautiful with every passing day.

My hope is that my work brings beauty into your life, but should my art not satisfy your aesthetic that you seek out art that will enrich you and find a way to make it a part of each day.

I am an artist. I have been drawing and communicating visually for as long as I can remember.  It is my deepest and most natural form of communication.   Suffering from a form of dyslexia and verbal inadequacy crippled my communications as a child, but art has always been there, giving me a voice.  I have worked hard and overcome much of the pain of written and verbal communication, but art remains my mother tongue - my first language.  It communicates the incommunicable, expresses the inexpressible, giving the best and deepest of me.  If you really want to know me and what I have to say, look at what I make.
