You wouldn't think checking a website every night would keep you from being productive, but it does. I was notified that I was eligible for jury duty just as I was hitting my post NCECA stride. I have yet to be called in, but somehow I have gotten nothing done this week. I blame it on not being able to plan more than one day at a time. How can I start a project if I might not be able to finish it tomorrow?
I had all kinds of plans to show you what I've been working on. However I did not take into account, my civic duty. I am very happy to have jury duty, and can't wait to get called in. I have heard wonderful stories from family members who have served on juries. This week the only artistic thing I've done is to read this month's
"Pottery Making Illustrated" which focused on growth through failure.
I have failed to get anything done this week but it's a new day (well week) and I have a plan on how to live without a plan: I will paint. As the weather warms up and my studio can be opened up and well-ventilated, it is time to get back to painting as an artistic outlet. I can work on a canvas whether I have jury duty tomorrow or not. So I will finish the three canvas set -- a landscape of seacoast with lighthouse and dock, a commission I gave my sister and her husband for Christmas last year. I hope I can finish that and get started on the Grand Canyon series, I've had in mind since visiting that amazing National Park last summer. I can't wait.
So that's the plan, tomorrow. I wasn't called in, so I will paint. Keep you posted on how I do sticking to my resolution. And if I fail I'll just have to pick myself up and try something else.
